At the CTCC we intend to implement a radical and stunning new initiative to combat crime, the fear of crime and to help us in our efforts to reduce crime, the fear of crime and to help make our neighbourhoods safer.
We are taking a leaf out of the book of Norfolk Police who have decreed that every victim of crime is to be visited by a police officer to help generate leads for investigations and build trust among the public. This a revolutionary new idea, apparently, even though it is what we used to do not too many years ago.
Gone will be the rows of computer terminals where the recorders of crimes have been sat for far too long.
I only hope that we can clear out the offices of desk jockeys, bean counters and the garages of the spare fleet capacity to allow every victim to get a visit. Our SMT might even get back into their corporate limmos to free up some of the small fuel efficient peugeots.
